For your first batch follow the How to Guide for Kombucha and the How to Guide for the Kombucha Crock to make 1 L (1 US qt) of kombucha. After day 8 add the entire 1 L (1 US qt) of kombucha including the scoby to the Kombucha Crock. Then add 3 L (3 US qt) of cooled, sweetened tea as below.
- 1 cup (250 g) white sugar
- 9 tea bags (or equivalent for loose leaf)
Dissolve the sugar in 3 L (3 US qt) of boiling water. Add the tea and steep for 3 – 5 minutes. Remove the tea and allow to cool.
